Development of Computational Thinking for Preschool Age

As part of the “Code Week 2019 in Preschool Institutions” project, we developed the “Guide for Developing Computational Thinking without the Use of Technology for Preschoolers.” This guide is intended for educators, parents, and teachers who, based on the described recommendations and ideas, can plan and implement these or entirely new activities and games to develop computational thinking without the use of technology with children. In this way, children can develop 21st-century skills, logical-mathematical thinking, and the thinking concepts used by programmers.

The handbook was prepared by a member of our team and a distinguished expert in the field of preschool education, Nataša Anđelković, who has extensive experience working with preschool-aged children. The reviewers are Dušica Čolaković and Biljana Kalafatić.

You can find the guide at this address (7.1 MB).

This handbook was created as part of the project “Code Week 2019 in Preschools,” which aims to help preschool institutions introduce computational thinking to children aged 5 to 6 years. The project was carried out through an intensive partnership between educators and parents who supported each other throughout the process.

The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
