The International Online Conference “Digital Education 2024” is organized by the Center for Educational Technologies Western Balkans in collaboration with partners for the fifth consecutive year.

We continue the tradition of gathering with the desire to exchange knowledge and experiences, to learn from examples of best practices, and to discover the most effective ways of connecting education and modern technologies.

Lazar Đoković

Position: Digital Compass for Youth – How Competency and Personality Assessments Guide the Right Career Choice

Lazar Đoković holds a master’s degree in Management and is a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, University of Kragujevac. He works as a career advisor, youth worker, and educator, actively supporting young people in their personal and professional development for over nine years. In addition to his work at the Job Info Center, Lazar serves as an assistant at the Faculty of Applied Management, Economics, and Finance (MEF), and as a student representative reviewer within the National Body for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NAT). Over the past few years, based on his recognized expertise, he has participated in numerous working and expert groups, contributing to the recognition and professionalization of occupations, the improvement of legal regulations, and the development of occupational standards. Through his volunteer work and engagement in the youth sector, Lazar has contributed to creating various services for young people, working with the Local Youth Council in Kragujevac and the National Youth Council of the Government of Serbia. This involvement led him to the position of Chair of the Board of NAPOR (National Association of Youth Work Practitioners), and he currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Job Info Center Association, the first professional association aimed at improving the quality of career guidance and counseling services. He believes in the potential of every individual and in the concept of lifelong learning and development. Lazar helps young people understand themselves, access relevant information, define their career goals, and create appropriate career plans. Through individual and group career counseling, he introduces youth to the concept of career, the process of career and personal development planning, and the importance of making informed career decisions.

Maja Veljković Michos

Position: Technology and AI in Balance with Traditional Models: Language Teaching and Academic Skills in a Hybrid LMS Environment

Maja Veljković Michos is an assistant professor and Spanish language instructor at Singidunum University in Belgrade. She holds a degree and a master’s from the University of Belgrade and earned her doctorate at the University of Salamanca, Spain, with a dissertation on innovative teaching of Spanish as a foreign language, technology use, and gamification. She has extensive experience teaching languages across various study programs and in multicultural classrooms. She teaches in Spanish and English, both in-person, online, and in hybrid formats, utilizing learning management systems. She has also taught courses in applied linguistics and designed a program and textbook on integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) into language teaching. Maja participates in workshops and professional development training for language teachers. She is the author of a monograph on the use of technology and artificial intelligence tools in language teaching. She actively takes part in international professional and scientific conferences aimed at improving language teaching and learning in the dynamic environment of the digital age.

Martina Lozanoska Najdovska

Position: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Advance Gender Equality in Academic Research

Martina Lozanoska Najdovska is a gender studies researcher and educator based in Skopje, North Macedonia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy – Institute of Gender Studies and she is currently enrolled in the Institute’s master’s programme in Gender Studies at UKIM. Since October 2020 she have worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the Institute of Gender Studies. She is currently focused on developing and applying AI tools to advance gender equality and social inclusion. She contributes to the AI Platform of the Faculty of Philosophy – an initiative that integrates artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, and research and supports an AI Platform for Gender Studies. Also, she contributes in developing AI agents and learning bots to operationalize RESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) principles for policy analysis, implementation and evaluation, and to deliver AI-supported trainings for gender-sensitive research. She coordinates projects that use AI to counter gender-related misinformation and anti-gender narratives by developing chatbots that detect and respond to disinformation, as part of the AI Against Gender Equality Misinformation initiative and the wider AI & Gender Equality Platform. She also takes part in applied RESI workshops and policy-engagement activities that introduce AI tools to local stakeholders, for example in capacity-building events under the “Together for Gender Equality” project. Her ongoing work combines applied research, platform development, and training to scale AI-supported pedagogy and evidence-based gender-inclusive policy tools across higher education and public institutions.

Aleksandra Ikonov is a PhD candidate, researcher, and experienced marketing manager specializing in digital marketing and the application of artificial intelligence in data analysis and education. Her work is dedicated to developing innovative approaches that connect technology, marketing, and learning, with the goal of improving access to education and the effectiveness of digital communication.

Throughout her career, Aleksandra has developed and led numerous digital campaigns and projects that combine research methods and AI tools, contributing to a better understanding of user behavior and the personalization of educational content.

By combining academic expertise and practical experience, she actively participates in projects aimed at enhancing digital competences and promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence in both education systems and marketing.

Valentina Bošković Marković

Valentina Bošković Marković earned her doctorate in Sociolinguistics from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. She began her professional career in 2010 and is currently an assistant professor and lecturer in the Anglistics program at Singidunum University in Belgrade. She is actively involved in projects and research in sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, academic writing, and language in education. Valentina has published numerous scientific papers, a monograph on gender-sensitive language, and a textbook on academic skills.
