The International Online Conference “Digital Education 2024” is organized by the Center for Educational Technologies Western Balkans in collaboration with partners for the fifth consecutive year.

We continue the tradition of gathering with the desire to exchange knowledge and experiences, to learn from examples of best practices, and to discover the most effective ways of connecting education and modern technologies.

Aleksandar Gligorijević

Bojana Mitričeski Anđelković

Bojana Mitričeski Anđelković works as a geography teacher in a primary school and has extensive experience working with children with developmental disabilities and special needs. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to enhancing teaching through innovative approaches, integrating digital technologies, and applying modern pedagogical methods that promote active learning and inclusivity. She has repeatedly presented examples of good practice at national and international levels, sharing her experience and results with colleagues across Serbia and Europe. Bojana has led workshops on the use of digital tools in teaching in Brussels, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Vidin, Warsaw, and Niš, demonstrating how technology can contribute to higher-quality and more creative education. She is a certified National Geographic Education teacher, Microsoft Innovative Educator, and an ambassador for the Scientix and EDU-ARCTIC networks, actively promoting the use of scientific and digital resources in education. Her professional mission is to inspire students to explore the world around them, develop critical thinking, and become responsible citizens who understand the importance of sustainable development.

Dejan Nikolić

Dejan Nikolić graduated from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš. He is currently employed as a teacher at the Technical School in Zaječar. He participates in programs organized by Junior Achievement Serbia, the Petlja Foundation (“Teacher for the 21st Century” program), and the Institute for Education and Upbringing (as a member of the team for the final exam in the field of Computer Engineering). He is also involved in the Erasmus program at his school and is a member of the Engineering Chamber of Serbia. He is the initiator of the Galaksija Cup competition and the Winter School of Programming in Zaječar. As a mentor, he has guided student teams participating in competitions organized by the Talent Center, the Student Project Conference of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, Metropolitan University, and the Best Technological Innovation competition in Serbia.

Dobrinka Kuzmanović is an Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philology, holding a PhD in Psychological Sciences. Her research focuses on development and learning in formal educational contexts, digital literacy of students and staff in educational institutions, safe online behavior, digital well-being of youth, and related areas. She has gained extensive research experience through leading and participating in numerous national and international projects. She is the author of monographs, scientific articles, educational policy documents, training programs, and professional guides. Dobrinka has received numerous awards, including the Živorad Žiža Vasić Award for the popularization of contemporary psychology (2024), the Dragan Janjić Award for media literacy (2023), and the EdTech Western Balkan Awards for contributions to digital education (2021).

Goran Stanković

Goran Stanković graduated from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Niš. He began his professional career at the Technical School in Zaječar, where he worked as an informatics teacher from 2000 to 2004. He advanced to the position of Assistant Director, which he held from 2004 to 2014, and since 2014 he has been serving as the school’s Director. He is actively involved in professional and organizational activities, including participation in the school’s Erasmus programs. He is also a certified ECDL examiner and the organizer of the Galaksija Cup competition. In addition, he serves as the Secretary of the Association of Electrical Engineering Schools of Serbia.

Jadranka Dorešić

Position: Artificial Intelligence and Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education from an International Perspective

Jadranka Dorešić is a Master of Economic Sciences with thirty years of experience in education. She is employed as a vocational subject teacher with advancement to the title of Advisor at the Ivan Švear Secondary School in Ivanić-Grad. In addition to working with students, she occasionally teaches in other adult education institutions. Throughout her career, she regularly involves students in field teaching, as well as in national and international competitions and projects.

She actively publishes professional papers in domestic and international journals, as well as on the Edutorij platform. She is a co-author of the current secondary school textbook and a reviewer of another textbook, thus contributing to the improvement of the education system. In the 2024/2025 school year, she was selected as one of the 522 most successful teachers in the country.

Sonja Šumonja

Sonja  holds a specialization in Mathematical Sciences and works as a pedagogical advisor and mathematics teacher at the Nikola Tesla School of Electrical Engineering in Niš. She views her teaching role as guiding students into the world of mathematics — but in diverse, often nonstandard and innovative ways.

In recent years, she has been exploring the use of artificial intelligence through various models tailored for teachers (as a Magic School AI Ambassador) and for students. She is one of the founders of the Niš Mathematics NGO – NiMat, and through the popularization of mathematics and related sciences — particularly by organizing numerous “Mathematics in May” festivals — she and her colleagues have helped many children stop seeing mathematics as something intimidating.

With more than 20 years of experience using educational software in teaching, especially GeoGebra, she has contributed to redefining mathematical standards for secondary education and to integrating mathematical educational applets into regular classroom practice. She is the author of numerous papers published in national and international journals and is recognized as a speaker at scientific and professional conferences both in Serbia and abroad.

As a Scientix Ambassador, she has contributed to the popularization of STEM and STEAM education, working with other teachers and empowering them to view their roles differently and act in accordance with the needs and trends of the 21st century.

Stela Durutović is the Education Programme Manager at the British Council. She has many years of experience in implementing international education projects, particularly in strengthening the competencies of school principals, teachers, and students in the areas of critical thinking, digital literacy, and programming.

She has gained significant experience through collaboration with regional and international educational institutions. In recent years, she has participated as a plenary speaker at the annual conference of the English Language Teachers’ Association (ELTA), as well as at the National Teachers’ Summit of Serbia.

Stela regularly attends the annual World Education Forum in London, dedicated to sharing best practices and innovative approaches to improving teaching and addressing global challenges in the education sector.

She also contributed to the development of a collection of lesson plans and school projects that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and the use of the micro:bit within the Schools for the 21st Century programme, funded by the UK Government with the support of the Ministry of Education.
